PhD Student, Wasps in UK Farming Systems

Position: PhD Student

Project: Recruiting Vespula vulgaris as pest managers on UK farms

Research Interests: I am interested in understanding how we can work with common wasps (Vespula vulgaris) in UK farming systems as an alternative approach to pest control, reducing the need for artificial pesticide sprays and improving the overall health of UK farming systems.

I am exploring this question holistically, looking both at the practicalities of such introductions and the broader cultural, ethical and moral considerations. My research is interdisciplinary, drawing on methods from anthropology, human geography and behavioural ecology.
